ROGER KING, FOUNDER and PRINCIPAL Roger King has been working with early-stage technology companies over 25 years. As the CEO of ChiefPeople (formerly Tech Search), he established a flagship recruiting agency that not only connected companies with professionals at every level of operation, but also developed customized solutions for staffing that includes project recruitment and/or retained, contingency, and contract search. He founded BayAngels in 1998; his mission was to connect entrepreneurs with successful, established visionaries who could contribute capital, insider industry networking, and board-level advice.
KARIM NURANI, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR and PRINCIPAL BayAngels Executive Director Karim Nurani brings a wealth of experience to Bay Angels. His expertise and business development skills have led to a network of diverse, bi-coastal business relationships. For over 20 years, from Boston to San Francisco, Nurani has led individual companies in educating employees and facilitating more efficient business operations. He is sales-oriented and driven to increase industry assets and profits at every level of operation. His mission at Bay Angels is to continue building a strong community of investors and entrepreneurs who want to foster technological innovations to make an impact, make a difference, make a profit.
RON SHERIDAN, Director Ron Sheridan brings over 15 years of successful entrepreneurial development experience to BayAngels. His knowledge base includes technology startup processes, networking strategies and creation of strategic partnerships and alliances. Ron has an ambitious agenda for partnership development and angel investor-focused event planning for BayAngels. “I’m extremely excited to be joining the team,” says Ron. “I also will be working with product and service providers in the startup space, as we identify and partner with best of breed companies and services to introduce to our startup candidates.”
Jordan helps startups grow, scale, and focus on achieving their objectives through operations, fund raising, business development, product development, and team leadership. As an experienced and proven leader, advisor, and mentor, he assists or leads in business operations, business development, org transformation, customer management, and team growth.
His 20+ years experience includes hands-on work, and leadership in high-demand, fast-paced, or structured environments in engineering, business, SW development, IT, Hi-Tech, Big Data/Analytics, IoT, Smart Home, and manufacturing.
Antonio Derossi has been responsible for the full scope of business operations at Fireman’s Fund and has been based in Novato, California, at corporate headquarters from August 2012 to September 2015. In the meanwhile he has been active also as a private angel investor seeding 6 startups.
Before Mr. Derossi joined Allianz Group in 2008 as the senior vice president of the Global Life Strategy and Development unit in Munich, Germany. Following in 2009, he served as the Regional Chief Operating Officer of Allianz, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMA). Prior to Allianz, he held consulting roles with McKinsey & Co for 8 years.
Mr. Derossi holds a degree in Physics from the University in his hometown of Trieste, Italy. Additionally, he speaks five languages, is a conservatory trained classical guitarist and is fond of outdoor activities such as cross country skiing and long distance running.
Haydar Haba, recognized for his technological vision and expertise in the Internet and Telecom industries, Mr. Haba is a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience building a string of successful companies with disruptive technologies that have generated billions of dollars in revenue. Mr. Haba founded and built IntelePeer, Telco 214 and others from inception to exit, raising millions of dollars in Venture Capital.
Mr. Haba is known internationally as an innovative and revolutionizing force within the Internet and Communications industries. His deep knowledge and opinions on global cloud-based platforms and technologies have been featured in print and broadcast media. Mr. Haba has completed Ph.D course work in Electrical Engineering and holds Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees from Florida Institute of Technology. He has several patents to his name.

FRED DAVIS, Advisory Board Member Bay Angels’ Fred Davis is a renowned technology writer and entrepreneur. He served as editor of PC Magazine, A+, MacUser, and PC World, and was involved in creation of startups Wired News, CNET, and AskJeeves (now Ask.com). Davis is the author of more than a dozen technology books and has appeared regularly as a technology commentator on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered program. Davis is cited as one of the most influential people in the tech industry, and brings his entrepreneurial spirit, powerful connections and technological expertise to Bay Angels.
Mas Sakamoto, a former IT executive, has many years’ experience in international and new business development , strategic planning, US-Japan partnerships, venture capital investment, new business incubation and cross-border operations with planning and logistics responsibilities. His recent activities include M&A, fundraising and coaching startups from Japan and in the US. He graduated from Keio University in Japan with a BA in Economics and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
BEN WAY, Advisory Board Member Ben Way is CEO of Rainmakers, Inc., one of the world’s leading companies in groundbreaking technology and entrepreneurial startup development. Way developed his first company, Quad, at the age of 15. He was awarded New Business Millennium Young Entrepreneur Of The Year in 2000 and Startup Magazine’s Young Gun Award, and has served as a technology advisor to the U.S. and U.K. governments, Microsoft, British Telecom, and more.
SHRUTI GANDHI, Advisory Board Member Shruti Gandhi brings a powerful mix of technological knowledge and business operations experience to Bay Angels. She was an investor in True Ventures and Samsung Ventures, serves as an advisor to VC Firms and TiE, as well as a managing partner at Array Ventures, a company that invests in entrepreneurial enterprises. Gandhi has worked on development projects at IBM, built an incubator (Technology Adoption Program), and was the founder of Penseev, a social/visual media platform. Gandhi is on marketing and technology committees for the San Francisco Ballet and a strong supporter of advancing women in engineering and finance.
PARUL SAHAI, Advisory Board Member Parul Sahai is a financial services industry veteran living in the Bay Area. She is the COO at Spendolater, a Fintech startup that aims to help Millennials in saving and investing. Previously she worked on Wall Street at Smith New Court (New York) and Merrill Lynch (New York) in Asian Equity Research Sales bringing Asian Equity investments to the fund management and hedge fund community in the US and helped raise funds for Asian companies in the IPO markets. She also worked in International Finance at Harvard Business School focusing on the EMU. She has been an early stage investor since 1999. She has a Bachelors degree in Commerce from Lady Shri Ram College, India and an MBA from Northeastern University in Boston.
NICOLE DeMEO, Advisory Board Member Nicole DeMeo is Chief Marketing Officer of glispa, a flagship, global digital marketing/mobile advertising firm with over 1 billion users across 187 countries. As a successful business launch, growth, and turnaround expert, Nicole brings her expertise for Fortune 500 companies’ go-to-market strategies and brand positioning to BayAngels’ investors and startups. She has had a presence in over 50 company launches – and four of them were her own.
Shawn Flynn is a proven performer with documented business success. After living and conducting business in China, for over 4 years in Beijing, where he founded and grew a profitable education company, he decided to return to San Francisco. As the Investment Director of Bay Angels, he is heavily involved in the startup community and is currently working towards his dream of helping bridge the gap between Silicon Valley and the rest of the world.
Bevis Cheng, objective is to connect Australian startups and entrepreneurs to the San Francisco and Silicon Valley ecosystem. The purpose is to provide a global network of education and resources to contribute to the economic development of Australia’s new age industries.

I come from a banking background and am fortunate to have the support of excellent partners in establishing a growing and successful property development firm. Rahul Varkhedi is a sophomore at the University of California- Berkeley and is intending to major in Economics and Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. At Berkeley, Rahul is involved in Berkeley Investment Group and OASES, a tutoring organization. His previous internships were private wealth management at Ameriprise Financial Services and mergers & acquisitions at BTI Group. Rahul aspires for a career in Finance. He wants to work at a bulge bracket bank straight out of college and hopes to own his own venture capital firm or hedge fund.
In his free time, he likes to learn about the intricacies of investing, basketball, weightlifting and tennis.
Tiffany Jiang is a rising junior studying Economics and Computer Science with an interest in law. She is a first generation Chinese-American with an interest in bridging the U.S. and China through investment analyst opportunities. She has worked for companies such as Morgan Stanley and Dorsey and Whitney, and is in the midst of projects that break the glass ceiling for women in investment and tech.
Austin is the data scientist tasked with building predictive machine learning algorithms for real estate startup Movoto. He holds a Master’s degree in Statistics from Stanford University in addition to Bachelor degrees in Statistics and Mathematics from Purdue University with a focus on Management and Economics. With his diverse university and industry background spanning credit assessment to clinical trials, coupled with technical expertise in predictive analytics, Austin hopes to build and nurture a variety companies during his career.
